Muskie skeds set for OFSAA

Staff

The Muskie boys’ hockey and curling squads now know who they will be lined up against at their respective OFSAA showdowns next week.
The hockey team, ranked 13th in the 20-team field converging on Toronto, will begin play in Pool ‘A’ next Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. (EDT) versus seventh-seeded Our Lady of Mount Carmel (Mississauga).
Then on Wednesday, Fort High will face 12th-ranked St. Thomas of Villanova (LaSalle) and top-ranked St. Mary’s (Pickering).
The Muskies then will wrap up pool play next Thursday morning against 20th-ranked Holy Cross (Kingston).
The top two teams in the pool will advance to the quarter-finals.
Meanwhile, the Muskie rink—made up of skip Isaac Keffer, third Cody Heyens, second Ian Grant, lead Jordan Sokoliuk, and fifth Luke Esselink—also are in Pool ‘A’ as they begin their quest of OFSAA gold next Wednesday in Thunder Bay.
Fort High will open up its round-robin slate at 12:30 p.m. (EDT) when they take on Ridgetown at the Fort William Curling Club.
The Muskie foursome then will move over to the Port Arthur Curling Club on Thursday, where they’ll square off against Sir Winston Churchill (St. Catharines) in the morning draw before clashing with London Central in the afternoon.
Fort High then concludes round-robin play next Friday morning versus Malvern Collegiate Institute (Toronto) back at the Fort William Curling Club.
Just like in hockey, the top two teams in each pool advance to the quarter-finals.
