In this instance, however, the time was more important than the place.
The Muskie cross-country running team sent two reps to the OFSAA championships in Port Hope on Saturday, with Tori Toriseva coming in 164th out of 284 in the 3.2K Midget girls’ race with a clocking of 14:18.
Liam George, meanwhile, grabbed 197th position in the field of 285 in the 5K Midget boys’ event with a time of 19:40.
“Time-wise, that was the best for both all year and exactly what we trained at,” lauded Muskie coach John Dutton.
“We set a [minutes per] kilometre pace in training, and they both came within a second of it,” he added.
Joe Fast of the Ridgemont Spartans (Ottawa) won the Midget boys’ division (16:23).
Haley Davis of the John F. Ross Royals (Guelph) topped the Midget girls’ field (11:49).
