Muskie rink vying for provincial berth

The Muskie girls’ rink, skipped by Jenna Enge, will be gunning for a trip to the all-Ontarios starting Monday morning when Fort Frances hosts the NWOSSAA curling playdowns.
Also competing in the girls’ division are the Kenora Broncos, Port Arthur Collegiate, St. Patrick High School, Lake Superior High School, and the Geraldton Composite High School.
Action gets underway Monday with the first draw at 10:30 a.m. Other draws are slated for 2:30 and 9:30 p.m.
The competition will wrap up Tuesday with draws at 9 a.m. and 1 p.m.
Playoffs, if necessary, will begin at 3:30 p.m.
The black-and-gold went 4-0 to finish in first place at the NorWOSSA playdowns last month in Dryden.
In boys’ action, the Muskie rink failed to qualify for NWOSSAA but the Rainy River Owls are among the six teams vying for a provincial berth.
Also competing here are the Dryden Eagles, Sir Winston Churchill Collegiate, St. Ignatius, Lake Superior High School, and Marathon High School.
The Fort High crew, skipped by David Kaun, failed to qualify after finishing third behind the Owls and host Eagles with a 3-2 record at the NorWOSSA playdowns last month in Dryden.
