It was a successful Friday for the Muskie hockey teams as both came away with road victories.
The boys romped to an 11-2 victory over the host Dryden Eagles in their final game of the NorWOSSA regular season.
Leading the way offensively was Jeff Davis, who had three goals and two assists.
Nick Jourdain and Josh Gouin added three assists each.
The black-and-gold, who finished in first place with a 13-0-0-1 league record, now are preparing for their annual exhibition clash with the International Falls Broncos set for this Friday (Feb. 17) at 7:15 p.m. at the Ice For Kids Arena.
The team then has a bye in the first round of the NorWOSSA playoffs.
Meanwhile, the Muskie girls topped the St. Thomas Aquinas Saints 8-5 in Kenora.
“It wasn’t a great win but it was a win nevertheless,” reasoned head coach Scott Clendenning.
“There were some good positives in that game, though, and scoring eight goals in one game will do a lot for the girls’ confidence.
“Shelby Tymkin was on her game and she was moving her feet,” added Clendenning.
“And along with her, Ericka Tymkin, Amy Penner, [and] Taylor Dixon also had big games for us.”
Next up for the girls’ squad is a home game tomorrow at 7:15 p.m. versus the Dryden Eagles.
