The Muskie golf team made strides in its final tune-up of the NorWOSSA season on Tuesday in Dryden.
The team finished second with a four-person total of 340—seven strokes back of the host Eagles (333).
Kenora and Red Lake carded identical scores of 342 to tie for third.
Kevin Jackson (76), Alex McDonald (80), Cody Ward (90), and Ryan Mosbeck (94) had the four registered scores for the black-and-gold.
Zach Jolicoeur (94), Davis Ross (98), and Abraham Germaine (107) rounded out the Muskie contingent.
McDonald, a Fort High senior, was a welcome addition to the team in Dryden after having missed the first two tournaments due to an appendectomy.
The Muskie squad now turns its attention to the NWOSSAA championship, which includes teams from Thunder Bay, slated for next Thursday (Oct. 1) at the Heron Landing Golf Course on Couchiching.
Dryden and Red Lake will join Fort High as the three NorWOSSA qualifiers.
The school with the lowest-combined four-person score at the regional event, along with the top two individual scores from players who are not among those four, will advance to the all-Ontarios.
The provincial showdown is set for Oct. 13-15 at Twenty Valley Golf & Country Club in Vineland.
