The Muskie boys’ golf team had a better day on the links for the second and final round at the all-Ontarios yesterday in Barrie.
After sitting 19th out of 20 teams after the first round Wednesday, the black-and-gold found a bit of a groove to finish 17th with a 74 over par total.
After carding an 85 in the opening round, Kevin Jackson stormed back with a 77 yesterday to finish at 18-over.
Alex McDonald, meanwhile, trimmed his score from an 84 to an 82 to end up at 22-over.
Jackson finished tied for 51st overall while McDonald tied for 70th with several other golfers.
Jackson birdied two holes and parred 10 in yesterday’s round, only double-bogeying once.
McDonald had one birdie and seven pars while double-bogeying twice.
Ryan Mosbeck added only one stroke yesterday from Wednesday’s round, recording a 91 to finish at 37-over.
But James Brown recovered greatly after a rough opening round, cutting a whopping 30 strokes with an 88 in the final round.
The team was allowed to use the top three scores from each day, meaning McDonald, Jackson and Mosbeck counted on Wednesday while McDonald, Jackson, and Brown’s scores were used yesterday.
Upper Canada College cruised to the title with a team total of 16-over-par, topping runner-up St. Theresa’s by 22 strokes.
