The Muskie golf team capped off the fall season with a fourth-place finish yesterday at the NWOSSAA showdown at Heron Landing.
Ben Bruyere, Alex McDonald, Andrew Easton, and Jordan Sinclair shot a combined 343—one stroke behind third-place St. Ignatius (Thunder Bay).
Bruyere was the low Muskie on the challenging Heron Landing course, carding a nine-over 81 to finish in a tie for seventh out of the 72 male golfers taking part.
The Red Lake Rams captured the team title.
Jon Johannesson, Brock Helgeson, Peter Martone, and Brett Lawrence shot a combined score of 325, which was one stroke better than the Hammarskjold Vikings (Thunder Bay).
In the boys’ division, the individual title went to Shaun Davis (Hammarskjold), who shot a three-over 75, while Tyler Nelson (Atikokan) finished second with a 76.
In the girls’ division, Dryden’s Melissa Kamm shot a 98 to win the gold by three strokes over teammate Randi-Lynn Sullivan.
In total, the event featured 79 golfers from 17 different schools from across Northwestern Ontario.
