The Muskie golf team got off to a good in their opening tournament of NorWOSSA play in Atikokan yesterday.
The black-and-gold finished second only to Red Lake with a combined team total of 343 (best combined four scores).
Red Lake finished in top spot with a 335 total, while Dryden (348) rounded out the top three.
Zach Jolicoeur had the low score for the Muskies carding an 83, followed by Kevin Jackson (84), Cody Ward (87), Davis Ross (89), Ryan Mosbeck (102) and Abraham Germain (114).
Fort High was without senior Alex McDonald, who had his appendix removed last week and is likely out for the remainder of the golf season.
The squad next travels to Red Lake on Tuesday (Sept. 15) for Week 2 action.
“I hear the black flies are thicker than air up there,” Muskie coach Shane Bliss joked.
The NWOSSAA championship—which includes teams from Thunder Bay—takes place at Heron Landing Golf Course on Oct. 1.
