Losses have been few and far between for the Muskie girls’ hockey team so far this season.
That trend continued Tuesday night with a 5-1 exhibition win over the host Babbitt Knights—giving the Muskies three-straight victories since their 2-1 loss to the Kelvin Clippers in the final of the Northern Shield Classic tournament in Dryden on Nov. 30.
Kristen Penner had a pair of goal against the Knights, including one shorthanded, while Taylor Meyers followed up her hat trick from last Friday’s 8-1 win over the Falls Broncos with another goal.
Jessie Baker and Kailey Curtis added singles.
Despite being whistled for six penalties, the Muskies carried the play for most of the game before Babbitt made a late push in the third.
Including tournament play, Fort High now sports an 18-6-1-1 record on the season.
The squad had been scheduled to play an exhibition game tonight against the Baudette Bears in Rainy River, but that has been pushed back to Jan. 22.
The Muskies instead will head to Portage La Prairie, Man. today for a tournament beginning tomorrow, then will resume NorWOSSA action this Tuesday (Dec. 16) in Dryden.
The black-and-gold, 3-0-1 in league play, will look to avenge a season-opening shootout loss to the undefeated Eagles (4-0) back on Nov. 11.
