Muskie girls win title

The Muskie girls’ hockey team just put this season’s opponents on notice.
The champs are back—and possibly better than before.
Annalise Hayes netted a hat trick, and Calie Clendenning posted the shutout, as the Muskies blanked the Kelvin Clippers 6-0 yesterday in Winnipeg to capture the Sturgeon Heights Huskies’ pre-season tournament for the third-straight year.
The black-and-gold went 5-0 en route to the title while outscoring their foes 30-0.
Fort High opened play with a 6-0 win over the Springfield Sabres (Oakbank), then blanked the Oak Park Raiders (Winnipeg) 5-0.
That put the Muskies into the quarter-finals against the host Huskies, who they crushed 8-0.
The black-and-gold ran into a stiffer defensive test in the semi-finals but still prevailed 3-0 over the St. Mary’s Academy Flames (Winnipeg).
The Muskies will host their annual home tournament this Friday through Sunday.
