Muskie girls win consolation final

The Muskie girls’ hockey team spoiled the party for the host Portage Saints during the PCI Christmas Classic tournament over the weekend.
Shae-Lynn Smith and Shilo Beck scored as the black-and-gold captured the consolation title with a 2-1 victory.
Dana Cridland earned the win between the pipes.
The Muskies finished the round-robin portion of the tournament with a 3-0 record following wins over St. Norbert, Oak Park, and Sturgeon Heights.
But they ended up missing a berth into the championship final due to the goal differential tie-breaker.
The squad now will prepare for an exhibition game in Baudette, Mn. tomorrow night, with their next NorWOSSA contest slated for this Sunday afternoon (Dec. 18) against the visiting Red Lake Rams.
Meanwhile, the Muskie boys continued their winning ways in NorWOSSA play with an 8-0 shutout over the Red Lake Rams on Saturday night at the ’52 Canadians Arena.
The black-and-gold improved their league record to 4-0-0-1, which they will look to improve upon on Thursday (Dec. 15) when they host Sioux Lookout at 7:15 p.m. at the Ice For Kids Arena.
