Muskie girls tie Kenora

The Muskie girls’ hockey team battled the Kenora Broncos to a 4-4 tie in NorWOSSA action there last night.
The black-and-gold had led 4-1 heading into the third period, but ran into some penalty trouble that allowed Kenora to get back into the game.
“The girls actually played really, really well,” said Muskie head coach Lynn Kellar. “We ran into some trouble in the third, but picked it up again and I’m really happy with their performance.”
The Broncos jumped on the scoreboard first but Miranda Kellar (Taylor Meyers) tied the game shortly afterwards. Katie McTavish then scored at 5:25 to make it 2-1 after one.
McTavish netted her second of the game in the second when she took a pass from Sarah O’Sullivan to make it 3-1. Carly Holt hit the twine with six minutes left in the period to cap the Muskies’ scoring.
Kenora rallied with three goals in the third to salvage the tie.
The Muskie girls will close out the NorWOSSA regular season this Monday (Feb. 20) at 7:15 p.m. against the host Dryden Eagles.
The playoffs begin Feb. 24.
