Muskie girls thrash Eagles

Things started in fine fashion for the Muskie girls’ hockey team’s weekend in Dryden with an 8-1 victory over the Eagles in NorWOSSA play last night.
Lauren Pierce opened the scoring just after the 10-minute mark of the first period, followed by Kailey Curtis’ tally three minutes later.
Dryden closed to within 2-1 shortly afterwards on a goal by Kylee Engstrom.
After a scoreless second period, the Muskies blew the game open with a six-goal blitz in the third on goals by Taylor Meyers (two), Lauren Krukoski (two), Lindsey Roehrig, and Nina Bird.
The win was the Muskies’ second against the Eagles and improved their league record to 3-1.
The squad is staying in Dryden for a tournament this weekend, opening play today at 2 p.m. against the Kenora Broncos and then facing the Eagles at 5:30.
