Muskie girls split games on weekend

The Muskies girls’ hockey team was able to get off its goal-scoring schneid here Friday night.
Unfortunately, they hopped right back on the following day.
The black-and-gold scored five first-period goals en route to an 8-2 victory over the visiting Red Lake Rams in NorWOSSA action Friday.
Nicole Beadle opened the scoring with an unassisted marker before Taylor Dixon made it 2-0.
Danielle Jean then netted one, assisted by Jillian Langtry and Kimmy LaFleur, before Beadle tallied her second of the night.
Langtry added her own before the period was through.
Jean provided the only scoring in the second period with assists from Langtry and Erika Anderson.
Jessie Baker made the score 7-0 early in the third before Red Lake responded with a pair of quick ones from in close on Melissa Payne.
But it was too little, too late as Carlee Bosma rounded out the scoring to seal the win.
The Rams’ goalie saw a lot of rubber fired her way as the Muskies outshot the visitors 64-34.
It was a different story Saturday afternoon, however, as Fort High only could find the back of the net once in a 2-1 loss to the Babbitt-Embarrass Knights despite outshooting their hosts 40-19.
Bosma was the Muskies’ long scorer—a shorthanded breakaway marker that came after she had blocked a Knights’ shot in her own zone.
