The Muskie girls’ soccer team returned with a 1-2 record after playing three exhibition games in Duluth over the weekend.
Maryam Seid netted the lone goal for the Muskies in their 1-0 victory over the Denfeld U16s on Saturday afternoon.
That came after Fort High dropped a 3-0 decision to Denfield’s U17 team earlier in the day, along with a 1-0 shutout loss at the hands of Gitchi Gummi U15s.
“I wasn’t sure how we would match up against the club teams in Duluth, but we had very competitive games and matched up well against their players,” said Muskie head coach Sarah Noonan.
“Having those three extra exhibition games allowed us to further develop as a team, with all of our players receiving significant playing time to help build up their skill level,” she added.
The Muskie girls’ and boys’ teams will be in Kenora tomorrow for the NorWOSSA playoffs, with both facing semi-final battles against Dryden in their respective divisions.
The host Broncos await each winner in the finals, with a berth to the all-Ontarios in Windsor next week on the line.
