Wins were hard to come by for the Muskie girls’ hockey team over the weekend in Thunder Bay.
The squad was there to play a trio of exhibition games Friday and Saturday–coming away from with a tie and two losses.
The Muskies kicked off action Friday night with a hard-fought 1-1 tie against the Midget ‘A’ Queens.
Taylor Croswell opened the scoring for the Muskies in the first period before the Queens tied it in the second.
Then in their first game Saturday morning, the black-and-gold fell 6-2 to the Bantam ‘AA’ Queens.
Croswell scored both goals.
The Muskies then faced the Confederation College Thunderhawks at afternoon and this time the result was a 3-1 loss.
Muskie captain Annalise (CC) Hayes scored Fort High’s lone goal in the third period.
The Thunderhawks scored twice in the second period, including one on a power play.
Then they iced the game with a marker with 3:30 to go after the Muskies had made it 2-1.
The Muskies are back in action tomorrow night when they visit the Kenora Broncos in a NorWOSSA matchup.
Then they will host the Dryden Eagles on Wednesday at 4:30 p.m. at “The Duke” (Couchiching Arena).
The Muskie boys, meanwhile, also return to NorWOSSA action tomorrow night against the Broncos in Kenora.
