Muskie football, hockey tryouts set

Preparations for Muskie football and hockey tryouts will be taking place all this week, with both springing into action next Monday (Aug. 13).
The football coaching staff has player and family information packages available for pick up at the high school during office hours (Monday to Thursday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.)
Packages include the senior and junior varsity schedules, practice schedules, authorization forms, medical forms (insurance costs are $35-$45), and information concerning program and player expectations. Registration is open to all students entering high school this fall.
Training camp will begin Aug. 13 with testing and equipment hand-out days. On-field practising will begin Wednesday, Aug. 15 from 5:30-8:30 p.m. at Muskie Field.
Practices will return to their normal time (3:30-5:45 p.m.) once classes resume Tuesday, Aug. 28.
Earlier this summer, the team announced it will be entering its first season in the Winnipeg High School Football League, bringing to an end a half-century of NorWOSSA play.
Meanwhile, tryouts for the Muskie boys’ hockey team will be held Aug. 13-16 at the Memorial Sports Centre. The start time for the first day is 9 p.m.
All interested players are welcome to show up on the first tryout day. There will be no tryout fees but prospective players must be full-time Fort High students.
For more information on either tryout, call the high school at 274-7747.
