The Muskie football team had notable initial success pedalling Muskie discount cards door-to-door before last Friday’s season-opener, selling more than 400 throughout the district.
In Fort Frances alone, 365 cards were sold. Another 40 were sold in Devlin and 30 more in Emo.
The total already is close to last year’s final tally of 600 cards sold.
Dave Ogilvie, president of the Muskie Touchdown Club, which organizes fundraising and support for the high school football team, said he was impressed with sales so far.
“If we could sell 800, that’d be great,” he said, adding that number would allow for the team to put some money away for savings for future seasons.
The cards, which offer various discounts at a number of local businesses until May 31, 2008, are available for $20 at McTaggarts and the Fort Frances Times offices.
Players also will continue door-to-door sales of the cards tomorrow evening (Sept. 13).
