The Muskie boys’ soccer team overcame a rough start to capture the ‘C’ side final at a tournament in Kenora over the weekend.
Saturday’s games did not go as planned as the black-and-gold were blanked 5-0 by eventual champions Vincent Massey (Brandon, Man.) and 3-0 by ‘B’ side champs St. Thomas Aquinas (Kenora).
But Fort High bounced back, edging Crocus Plains (Brandon, Man.) 2-1 on goals by David Chambers and Anniss Seid before downing Dryden 1-0 on a goal by Chambers.
The Muskie girls, meanwhile, struggled offensively en route to a winless weekend at the annual St. John’s-Ravenscourt tournament in Winnipeg.
Fort high fell 9-0 to River East, 2-0 to Vincent Massey and 3-1 to Glenlawn over the weekend.
Courtney Roach managed Fort High’s only goal against Glenlawn.
The teams will resume NorWOSSA play Wednesday in Dryden with games against Kenora and the host Eagles.
The boys enter action with a 1-0-1 league mark while the girls are 0-1-1.
