Eight different scorers made for a well-balanced attack as the Muskie boys’ hockey team blanked the St. Thomas Aquinas Saints (Kenora) 8-0 at the Ice For Kids Arena on Tuesday night.
Sully Shortreed netted the lone goal of the first period.
The Muskies (4-0) then exploded for six more in the second, including three with the man advantage.
Colton Bodnar, Matt Cheetham, and Maxwell Williams notched the power-play markers while Jon Busch, Kendyn Faragher, and Graeme Kitt added singles.
Cooper Witherspoon rounded out the scoring in the third.
Muskie goalie Matt Booth earned his first career NorWOSSA shutout.
“The guys played really good in front of me and kept it down in their zone lots,” noted Booth, a Grade 10 rookie who has started the last three games ahead of veteran Dylan Ossachuk.
“There wasn’t a lot of chances for [the Saints],” he added.
“The guys made it pretty easy on me.”
“Every game, [Booth] looks like he feels a little more comfortable out there,” lauded Muskie head coach Jamie Davis, whose team has outscored their opponents 34-6 in their first four league games.
The squad is off until Tuesday (Dec. 1), when they’ll head to Kenora to face the Broncos.
Their next home game is set for Dec. 10 against those same Broncos.
