The Muskie hockey program skated to mixed results over the weekend.
Up in Red Lake, the boys’ team battled to a 2-2 tie on Friday night before beating the host Rams 5-2 on Saturday afternoon.
George Halverson and Taylor Jorgenson scored in Friday night’s game, with David Moen earning the tie in goal.
Riley Caul, Halverson, Kyle Turgeon, Joe Basaraba, and Mitch Green tallied in Saturday’s victory, with goalie Richard Wieringa getting the win.
Meanwhile, the Muskie girls’ team fell 4-1 to the visiting Dryden Eagles on Friday night at the Ice for Kids Arena.
Carly Holt netted the team’s lone marker.
Katie Stearns started the game in goal for the Muskies, but was pulled in favour of Sara Trendiak in the third period.
But the black-and-gold stormed back with a 4-3 comeback victory over the Eveleth Gilbert Golden Bears in exhibition action here Saturday afternoon.
The hosts had fallen behind 3-0 before rallying with four unanswered goals from Erika Anderson, Taylor Meyers, and Holt (two) to pull out the victory.
Trendiak picked up the win in goal.
Both Muskie squads return to NorWOSSA action tomorrow night (Tuesday) when they host the Kenora Broncos.
The girls’ game is scheduled to begin at 7:15 p.m. at the Ice for Kids Arena while the boys’ game will start at 7:30 p.m. at the ’52 Canadians Arena.
