Muskie boys still unbeaten in league play

The Muskie boys’ hockey team improved to 3-0 in NorWOSSA play after their 6-3 victory over the Kenora Broncos last night at the Ice for Kids Arena here.
In one of the more physical games the Muskies have played this season, the squad got off to a rough start when the visitors scored less than a minute into the contest.
But the black-and-gold came back fighting hard, skating hard, and hitting even harder.
Tyler Miller netted his first of the game at 6:15 of the first to knot the game at 1-1.
Kenora later had the chance to regain the lead on a power play, but wasted the opportunity when they ended up being whistled two minutes for roughing themselves.
Back to even strength, the two sides battled it out the rest of the period without scoring any more goals.
With an equally aggressive start to the second period, and both teams hungry to take the lead, Mike McCaig found the back of the net at 5:48 to put the Muskies up 2-1.
Then it was the Broncos’ turn to tie the score after beating Muskie goalie Richard Wieringa.
Miller, with his second of the night, wasted no time giving the Muskies the lead again in the third period. Josh Sigurdson followed at 14:39 before Tyson Romyn hit the twine to make it 5-3.
Minutes later, Romyn found himself on top of Bronco goalie Matt Liske. He was handed a five-minute major for roughing the goaltender, as well as a 10-minute misconduct.
But Kenora couldn’t capitalize. Instead, Miller finished off his hat trick when he tallied with 1:07 left to seal the victory.
The Muskies return to the ice this Saturday (Nov. 26) for an exhibition game against their cross-border rivals, the International Falls Broncos.
Game time is 7:30 p.m. at the Ice for Kids Arena.
