Muskie boys settle for second

The Muskie boys’ hockey team took second place at a tournament in Morden, Man. over the weekend, losing 5-4 to the G.V.C. Zodiacs in the final Saturday afternoon.
The black-and-gold had tied the game at 4-4 with less than three minutes to play, but then fell in an overtime shoot-out—their lone loss of the tournament.
The Muskies had opened action Friday with a 9-0 rout over St. Johns Ravenscourt. They had led 2-0 after one period and 6-0 through two before erupting for three more goals in the final stanza.
After leading 1-0 after the first period against the Mountain Mustangs, the Muskies scored twice in the second and then added three more in the third for a 6-0 victory.
Fort High then earned a berth in the final with a similar 6-0 win over the Pembina Tigers on Saturday morning.
The Muskie boys next will be looking to go 3-0 in NorWOSSA play when they host the Kenora Broncos tomorrow at 7:15 p.m. at the Ice for Kids Arena.
