It’s definitely not the start that they had envisioned.
The Muskie boys’ soccer team suffered a 4-0 loss to the top-ranked Iona CSS Dolphins (Mississauga) this morning to kick off the OFSAA ‘AA’ boys’ championships in North Bay.
The fifth-ranked Muskies were looking to bounce back against the second-seeded St. Charles College Cardinals (Sudbury) this afternoon, with the outcome not known as of press time.
Fort High next will square off against the fourth-ranked King’s Christian Collegiate Knights (Oakville) tomorrow at 7:30 a.m (all times CDT).
Then they’ll wrap up pool play against the third-raked St. Mary CSS Thunder (Cobourg) at 1 p.m.
The top two teams in each pool advance to the cross-over quarter-finals, which will take place tomorrow at 4:15 p.m.
The semifinals are slated for Saturday at 8 a.m.
The bronze-medal game then goes at 11:30 a.m., followed by the gold-medal final at 2 p.m.
Fort High had qualified for the all-Ontarios for the ninth-straight time by defeating the host Dryden Eagles 2-1 in the NorWOSSA final last Wednesday (May 29).
