Muskie boys lose in final

They have been defeated.
Facing some of the toughest competition they’ve seen all season, the Muskie boys’ hockey team lost 4-0 yesterday to Duluth Marshall Hill in the final of a three-day tournament there.
The black-and-gold had opened action Tuesday with a 5-2 win over Superior, the two-time defending tourney champions and last year’s Wisconsin state champions.
The Muskies then beat Hudson, Wis. 5-3, which gave them a berth in the final against the number-one ranked team in Minnesota.
Muskie head coach Shane Bliss said his team had been preparing and practising for the Duluth tournament.
“We have to pick it up if we’re going to have a shot against the teams we’ll be playing in Duluth,” Bliss had said after their last NorWOSSA game—a 3-0 win over the Dryden Eagles.
The boys next face-off Jan. 6-8 at a tournament in Winnipeg.
In related news, the Muskie girls’ hockey team will host International Falls in exhibition action on Tuesday (Jan. 3) at 7:30 p.m. at the Ice for Kids Arena.
