Muskie boys hosting Rams

The Muskie boys’ hockey team will get to see if it’s “Ram tough” this weekend.
The black-and-gold (1-0) will take on the Red Lake Rams in a NorWOSSA doubleheader, with the first clash going tonight (Nov. 20) at 7:15 at the Ice For Kids Arena.
The rematch is set for tomorrow at 11 a.m. at the Emo-La Vallee Arena.
Muskie coach Shawn Jourdain will be looking for a more consistent 60-minute effort from his troops after their season-opening 7-3 win Tuesday night against the visiting Kenora Broncos.
“Our play was very scrambly,” he admitted. “We weren’t as strong as we need to be.
“We need to get better,” he stressed.
Gordon Myers had put the Broncos ahead with 10 minutes left in the first period.
Dustin Brown tied it at 12:26 before Donovan Cousineau catapulted the home side in front later in the frame.
Kenora knotted the score just 1:58 into the second on a goal from Scott Bailey, but Brendon Cawston scored at 9:49 and again at 19:10 to put Fort High up 4-2.
Brady Myles tried to keep the visitors close by tallying 12 seconds into the third, but it was all Muskies after that.
Brown netted his second of the night at 5:33 and Jeff Cridland lit the lamp 55 seconds later.
Brett McMahon rounded out the scoring to make it three goals in a span of 2:17 for the black-and-gold.
Devin Stromness earned the win between the pipes while Bradin Seniw was saddled with the loss.
