Muskie boys get swept by Kings

The games got better for the road team as they went along but the end results remained the same.
It was three swings and three misses for the Muskie boys’ hockey team as it failed to notch a win against the Thunder Bay Minor Midget ‘AAA’ Kings during a three-game exhibition series there over the weekend.
The Muskies, who went 1-2 against the Kings when they played here in their first games of the season back in the fall, lost 6-2 on Friday, 3-1 on Saturday, and then 4-2 yesterday.
“[Yesterday] was definitely the best of the three games overall,” noted Muskie head coach Jamie Davis.
“We just had some minor breakdowns in the third when we were up 2-1.”
Jarred Taylor and Brent Jourdain scored for Fort High in yesterday’s game while Taylor and Graeme Kitt tallied in Friday’s opener.
The Muskie goal scorer in Saturday’s game was unavailable.
Jordan Carlson was between the pipes for the Muskies in the games Friday and yesterday while Dylan Ossachuk started Saturday.
The black-and-gold is now off until Thursday, when they head to Winnipeg for the annual John Taylor Piper Classic.
Fort High, which lost in the quarter-finals of the tournament last season to the current reigning champion St. Paul’s Crusaders (Winnipeg), opens with a 9:15 p.m. game against the Sturgeon Creek Huskies (Winnipeg).
The Muskies’ next home game is Feb. 3 when the Kenora Broncos invade the ’52 Canadians Arena for a 7:30 p.m. clash.
