Muskie boys earn bye

The Muskie boys’ soccer team are a win away from their third-straight NorWOSSA crown after clinching the top seed in the playoffs in their regular-season finale yesterday in Kenora.
With a 3-2 win over the host Broncos in the final game of the day, the black-and-gold wrapped up the league campaign with a 5-1 record to finish in first place.
They also earned a bye to the final next Wednesday in Dryden.
Cam Gobeil led the way against Kenora with a pair of goals while teammate Brandon Sinclair netted the other one.
Earlier in the day, the Muskies cruised to a 4-1 victory over the Dryden Eagles, with Tyler Ruppenstein and Jacob Bolzan each scoring their first career NorWOSSA goal.
Colton Craig also scored while Sam Berube was credited with a goal after a Dryden player put the ball into his own net.
Cody Kaus had the lone goal for the Eagles.
The Muskie girls, meanwhile, fell just short of their quest to earn a bye into the league finals after dropping a 1-0 decision to the Broncos yesterday.
But thanks to a 1-0 win over the Eagles earlier in the day, on a goal by Maryam Seid, the black-and-gold finished up the regular season in second place with a 2-3-1.
They now will face Dryden in the semi-final next Wednesday, with the winner then squaring off against Kenora for the league crown and a trip to the all-Ontarios.
