For the Kittson Central Bearcats, it was like training camp.
For the Muskie boys’ hockey team, it was easy pickings.
Max Williams, Hunter Koles and Graeme Kitt each had two goals to pace Fort High to an 8-3 exhibition win in Hallock on Tuesday.
“It was [Kittson’s] first game of the year,” noted Muskie head coach Jamie Davis, whose squad already has played nine game this season.
“I thought we played pretty decently, even being short a few guys,” he added.
Injuries to defencemen Carter Brown (shoulder), Wade Johnson (lower body) and Matt Cheetham (upper body) forced Davis to call up Jon Busch, Sully Shortread, and Colton Bodnar from the Fort Frances Bantam ‘AA’ Canadians for the game.
“They played really well and didn’t look out of place at all,” lauded Davis, whose team lost 3-2 to Kittson in a shootout here last season.
Chase McGuire and Tyler VanUden had the other goals for the Muskies, who led 3-0 after the first and 6-3 through two.
Dylan Ossachuk earned the win in goal.
The Muskie now head to Dryden tomorrow for a two-day tournament hosted by the Eagles.
Their next home game is slated for Dec. 5 versus those same Eagles.
