The wind was cool but the action was hot last night for the Rainy River District Women’s Fastball League.
Rachelle Yeo was a star as she led the Fort Frances Mud Dogs to an 11-7 victory over the Couchiching Lady Raiders.
She earned the pitching win and also crushed a grand slam.
Heather Wright and Kaily Greengrass also hit the other home runs in the game.
Kam Singleton suffered the loss.
Heather Johnson was named MVP for the Mud Dogs while Singleton garnered the accolade for the Lady Raiders.
Sabaskong Tebinaak, meanwhile, battled the Fort Frances Angels to an 11-11 tie.
MVP honours went to Savannah (Tebinaak) and Kiley (Angels).
Elsewhere, the Big Grassy Lynx nabbed a 5-1 win over the Emo Renegades.
Candace Handorgan was the winning pitcher while Karma Andy was tagged with the loss.
Teri Major and Laurie Brown were the game MVPs.
The Northwest Bay Beavers eked out a 13-12 triumph over the Red Gut Babes.
Darcy Smith earned the win while Tracy Morningstar was saddled with the loss.
The MVPs were Teresa Smith (Beavers) and Kayla Windigo (Babes).
And the Dawson Tigers rolled to a 42-8 rout of the Manitou T-Birdies, with Nada Comegan picking up the win.
MVP honours went to Comegan and Kayla Allan (T-Birdies).
The Fort Frances Herricanes had the bye last night.
There will be no games on Monday due to the Victoria Day holiday, with league action set to resume on Wednesday (May 23).
