Professional hockey is coming to Fort Frances this fall.
The Manitoba Moose and Hamilton Bulldogs will meet for a pre-season game Oct. 8 at 7 p.m. at the Ice for Kids Arena.
“We’re in the process of having tickets printed up,” said Darren Johnson, athletic director at Fort High, who has spent almost a year setting the game up.
The teams will play one exhibition game here, spend the night, and then go to Dryden for another game.
Tickets will cost $20 in advance of a date that has yet to be decided and $25 after that date. All proceeds will go to Fort High athletics and the Muskie football program.
Right now, Johnson plans to get tickets from Ticketmaster in conjunction with Dryden. The date when sales will start, and which businesses will be selling them, should be confirmed by the end of the month.
The rosters for the teams will not be set until training camp in late August or early September.
But if the NHL fails to reach a collective bargaining agreement with its players, district residents could get the chance to see some great talent—and be assured of watching at least a few rising stars for the Vancouver Canucks and Montreal Canadiens.
