Mixed results for Muskies in Dryden

Staff

The performances by the Muskie boys’ and girls’ soccer teams could not have been more different yesterday in Dryden as both resumed NorWOSSA play.
The boys’ squad, the defending league champs, improved to 3-0-1 with a convincing 4-0 victory over the Kenora Broncos before battling the host Eagles to a 1-1 draw.
Colton Spicer scored a pair of goals in the win over the Broncos, with Colton Craig and Brandon McGinnis adding singles.
McGinnis, who netted three goals on Sunday during a tournament in Kenora, had the lone marker in yesterday’s draw with the Eagles.
With 10 points from four games, the Muskies can assure themselves of a berth in the NorWOSSA final here on May 30 if they can collect a single point on the final day of the regular season next Wednesday (May 23) in Kenora.
Dryden trails Fort High with a 1-0-2 record while Kenora sits in the basement with a 0-3-1 mark.
Meanwhile, the Muskie girls had a day they’d much rather forget yesterday in Dryden, falling 1-0 to the Broncos and then getting blanked 3-0 by the Eagles.
With the losses, the black-and-gold saw their record fall to 0-3-1, which puts them at the bottom of the three-team loop.
The Broncos currently lead the way with a 3-0-1 record while the Eagles are in second at 1-1-2.
