Minor hockey registration set

Staff

It’s already that time of year again to get all those budding Sidney Crosbys and Hayley Wickenheisers signed up for the 2010-11 minor hockey season.
The Fort Frances Minor Hockey Association will hold registration for all leagues on Monday, Aug. 30 and Tuesday, Aug. 31 from 6-10 p.m. at the Memorial Sports Centre auditorium.
Registration fees vary by program, with the Initiation Program set at $290 for the season and all levels from Novice through Midget set at $365.
Players outside of the Fort Frances taxable area will be charged an extra $30 while those trying out for an ‘AA’ team will pay an extra $35.
All first-time registrants must bring a copy of both their birth certificate and health card.
The FFMHA also offers an online registration form, which is now live through its website at www.fortfranceshockey.com
The official deadline for registrations is Oct. 15, although FFMHA registrar Kelly Jolicoeur said players ideally should be signed up by Sept. 15 in order to let coaches evaluate everyone before choosing teams in early October.
Any player wishing to sign up after Oct. 15 will be charged a $30 late fee.
However, those trying out for an ‘AA’ team must be registered by Aug. 31 since tryouts kick off in early September.
