Minor hockey is planning a return to the ice this winter.
The Fort Frances Minor Hockey Association is planning an open registration in expectation of an upcoming hockey season. Registration will be held September 7, 2020.
The FFMHA board is expecting a framework from Hockey Northwestern Ontario in the coming weeks which will outline a strategy for a safe return to hockey, with endorsement from regional health authorities. Registration is moving ahead in anticipation of this announcement, to enable coaches and organizers time to plan the season. The FFMHA will be communicating the details of the return to hockey strategy, when it’s made available to them.
“This should yield greater certainty so that we are able to inform parents, coaches, and players when a return to hockey may be expected and what it may look like,” the FFMHA stated in a press release on Facebook.
The group held a virtual Annual General Meeting over the summer, to select a new executive. The group is still seeking a U9 Director. Anyone interested in volunteering for the position should e-mail secretary.ffmha@outlook.com.
