Game on.
The post-season began in earnest last night in the Rainy River District Fastball League with three games each in both the East and West Divisions.
With the Fort Frances Braves getting the top seed and a bye in the East after finishing with a league-best 18-1 record, six other East teams collided to decide who would stay in the Winners’ Side of the double-elimination playoffs (all scores unavailable at press time).
The second-ranked Couchiching Raiders (14-5) were at home to the seventh-seeded Northwest Bay Juniors (1-18).
The defending champion and third-seeded Sight & Sound Wolves (13-6), meanwhile, hosted the sixth-ranked Manitou Thunderbirds (4-15).
The other East game saw fourth-ranked Windey’s Warriors (9-10) facing the fifth-seeded Northwest Bay Chieftains (7-12).
In the West, the second-seeded Barwick Blue Knights (15-4), last year’s league finalist, hosted the seventh-ranked Sabaskong Goldeneyes (3-15) at Oltsher Field.
The third-ranked Stratton Eagles (13-6) hosted the sixth-seeded Sabaskong Cubs (4-14) while the fourth-seeded Sabaskong Lakers (8-10) were at home to the fifth-ranked Rainy River Royals (5-12).
The Dawson Tigers (17-2) had the bye to the second round.
The playoffs then continue tomorrow at 6:30 p.m.
