Devlin brothers Brad and Alex McDonald hit the links for the rain-shortened Manitoba PGA Junior Championship at the Transcona Golf Club in Winnipeg last Tuesday and Wednesday (Aug. 18-19).
Alex, 17, finished tied for 14th in the 17-19 age group with a 27-hole total of 119.
After opening the two-day event with an 80, McDonald carded a 39 through nine holes before play was halted permanently due to rain.
Riley Unger of Plum Coulee, Man. earned the win with a scorching eight-under 27-hole total of 99.
Will Peppler of Winnipeg had a 106 to finish a distant second.
Meanwhile, Brad McDonald, 16, carded a 27-hole total of 120 to finish tied for 12th in the 14-16 age category.
Scott Mazur, playing on his home course, carded a 109 to win the division by just one shot over Winkler’s Zac Klassen (110).
Championship division winners earned berths in the CAN-USA team matches this December in Arizona.
