McComb among top 10 in Ontario

Local figure skater Sarah McComb went to Fort Erie for the provincial competition over the weekend and finished seventh out of the top 12 skaters in Ontario.
“It was a good experience. She missed a couple of jumps that if she would have landed would have made her score higher,” noted her mom, Penny.
Penny McComb noted since we are in such a remote area, it is a huge accomplishment for her daughter to make it as far as she did.
“Getting down there is an excellent accomplishment,” she enthused.
She added the skaters got only three-and-a-half minutes to do their best. “You do it once, get it right, and you are rewarded,” McComb reasoned.
Meanwhile, 26 skaters from the Border Figure Skating Club travelled to the Lakehead earlier this month for the Thunder Bay Open.
Shane Katona led the way with a first-place finish in the Sr. Silver Men’s Elements and third in the Sr. Silver Men’s Free. McComb was first in the Jr. Silver Ladies Free and 12th in the Jr. Silver Ladies Elements.
Michael Sande also had an excellent showing, taking top honours in both the Pre-Preliminary Men’s Elements and Pre-Preliminary Men’s Free.
