Maroons blank Muskies

An aerial assault by Daniel McIntyre Maroons’ quarterback Kim Ebron was too much for the Muskies to handle Friday afternoon in Winnipeg.
The black-and-gold were trounced 44-0 to fall to 1-3 in WHSFL play.
Ebron was 10-for-18 through the air for 329 yards and four touchdowns, which also was enough for him to earn player-of-the-week honours in the Currie Division.
“He basically just threw the ball as high and as far as he could,” noted Muskie coach Shane Beckett, who again was filling in for regular coach Chad Canfield.
“Our defensive backs who don’t normally get beat were getting beat, and that’s because we weren’t getting enough pressure on the quarterback, and those kinds of things lead to a chain reaction of events,” Beckett said.
Overall, Beckett felt a poor of week practice led to their downfall Friday.
“Attendance-wise and execution-wise weren’t very good during the week, and our fear as a staff was that it would continue on to the playing field on Friday and it did,” Beckett remarked.
“They [Daniel McIntyre] played a good game, and we didn’t put out enough effort to play with them. It was as simple as that,” he stressed.
The Muskies won’t have long to dwell on their loss, though, as they’ll host the division-leading Elmwood Giants (4-0) on Thursday afternoon.
“We’re going to see today at practice what the positives will be from that game on Friday,” Beckett said.
“We’re going to see if the guys have decided that they want to be better after the loss on Friday going forward, and that’s the biggest question that we have right now,” he admitted.
Kick-off time for Thursday’s game is slated for 3 p.m.
