Manitou still tops


Manitou Forest Products is showing it will be hard to score on them this season.
Jacob Albright nabbed his second-straight shutout Monday night to help pace Manitou (3-0) to a 1-0 win over CJ Contracting (1-2) in men’s division action of the Borderland Soccer League.
Connor Nelson netted Manitou’s lone goal in the second half.
Gavin Richardson suffered the loss between the pipes for CJ.
Manitou is back in action tonight against Centra Pipelines (0-2) for the two squad’s second meeting of the season.
In women’s division action last Tuesday night, Al’s Racquet Stringing and La Place Rendez-Vous battled to a 3-3 tie in their first game of the campaign.
Laureen Peters scored twice while Maggie Jean had the other marker for the Vous.
Alyssa Faragher, Peters, Tina Gerber, and Tanya Mueller shared keeper duties.
Mika Kooistra, Natalie Desjardins, and Katie Sinclair all bulged the twine for Al’s, with Phyllis Pierson in goal.
The two squad’s were slated to meet again last night, with the outcome not known as of press time.
