Manitou shaking off funk

The tide is starting to turn for Manitou Forest Products in the Borderland Soccer League.
After snapping a six-game losing streak last Wednesday with a 1-0 win over Centra Pipelines, they battled top-ranked CJ Contracting to a 1-1 tie in men’s division action Monday night.
Jeremy Nussbaumer netted Manitou’s (4-6-2) lone goal while Jacob Albright was solid between the pipes.
Declan Webb replied for CJ (7-2-2) while Alex Gustafson handled keeper duties.
Nussbaumer also tallied Manitou’s lone marker in last Wednesday’s victory over Centra (4-6).
Albright nabbed the shutout while Tyler Hamm was tagged with the loss.
It was Centra’s second-straight loss.
Centra will look to get back into the win column tonight when they take on Manitou at 7 p.m. at the St. Francis Sports Field.
Meanwhile, it was a goal-fest in women’s division play last Tuesday night.
Claire Hyatt netted a hat trick as La Place Rendez-Vous outgunned Al’s Racquet Stringing 8-6.
Myla Angus, Laureen Peters, Ashlyn Beck, Kaylyn Levesque, and Maggie Jean scored the other goals for the Vous (4-2-1).
Alyssa Faragher, Tina Gerber, Peters, and Tanya Mueller shared keeper duties.
Natalie Desjardins tallied twice in a losing cause for Al’s (2-4-1).
Hailey McEvoy, Sara Kellar, Sarah Bagacki, and Erin Tomalty also bulged the twine in that one.
Phyllis Pierson surrendered all eight goals to take the loss.
The Vous and Al’s were slated to face each other in the two-team division again last night (the score wasn’t known as of press time).
