Staff

James Pavier became bored with stopping goals so he spent the second half scoring them.
After a flawless first half between the pipes, Pavier left the net and scored twice as Manitou Forest Products blanked Pharmasave 6-0 in Borderland Soccer League men’s division action Monday night.
Also scoring twice was Chris Sinclair, whose four total tallies leads the league.
Carter Chorney and Colton Spicer added singles while Jacob Albright finished off the shutout as Manitou (3-0-1) moved into first place by one point over Centra Pipelines (3-0).
Steve Hands took the loss in goal for winless Pharmasave (0-5), which is mired in fourth place, four points behind third-place CJ Contracting (1-2-1).
Centra and CJ squared off last night (the score was unavailable at press time).
CJ then will take on Pharmasave tonight at 7 p.m.
In the women’s division, Al’s Racquet Stringing earned its first win in three tries this season by edging La Place Rendez-Vous/Taggs 4-3.
Myla Angus netted a pair of goals for Al’s, which now sits even with Vous/Taggs at 1-1-1.
Abby Sanders and Cassidy Roach had the other markers for Al’s while Caroline Spencer earned the win in goal.
Erin Tomalty scored for the third straight game and drilled her league-high fourth goal for Vous/Taggs, to go along with tallies by Hailey Beaudry and Gwen MacDonald.
Phyllis Pierson was tagged with the loss.
The two teams will go at it again this Monday at 7 p.m.
