Manitou off to perfect start in soccer league

It’s early in the Borderland Soccer League season but it would appear Manitou Forest Products is the team to beat in the men’s division.
A 1-0 win over Centra Pipelines (0-2) on Monday night improved their league-best record to 2-0.
After a back-and-forth first half in which both teams had some chances to break the scoreless deadlock, Chad Faragher pounced on a loose ball and fired a rocket past an outstretched Tyler Hamm to give Manitou all the offence it would need.
Jacob Albright earned the shutout in goal while Hamm was tagged with the loss.
Manitou picked up its first win of the season last Wednesday as CJ Contracting (1-1) was forced to forfeit due to not being able to field a full team.
That handed Manitou the default 1-0 victory.
Men’s division action had opened last Monday with CJ Contracting eking out a 1-0 victory over Centra.
Caleb Koomans netted the lone marker in that one while Gavin Richards notched the shutout in goal.
Hamm suffered the loss for Centra.
Tonight’s game will pit Centra against CJ Contracting at 7 p.m.
In the ladies’ division, the match last Tuesday between La Place Rendez-Vous/Taggs and Al’s Racquet Stringing was cancelled due to lightning and will be rescheduled later in the season.
Vous/Taggs and Al’s also were slated to play each other last night, with the outcome not known as of press time.
