Manitou drops third-straight game


Zach Koomans scored twice to pace Centra Pipelines to a 4-0 shutout win over Manitou Forest Products in Borderland Soccer League men’s division action Monday night.
It was the third-straight loss for Manitou, which now sits with an even 3-3 record after winning its first three games of the season.
Jeff Hyatt and Declan Webb also tallied for Centra (2-3).
Mike Brady earned the shutout between the pipes while Jacob Albright suffered the loss.
CJ Contracting improved its record to 3-2 with a 1-0 shutout of Manitou last Wednesday night.
Matt Begin netted his squad’s lone goal in the second half with a shot that ricocheted off the bottom of the crossbar and in.
Alex Gustafson nabbed the shutout in goal while Albright again was tagged with the loss.
CJ was slated to face Centra tonight.
In women’s division action, Al’s Racquet Stringing (1-1-1) picked up its first win of the season with an 8-4 triumph over La Place Rendez-Vous (1-1-1) last Tuesday night.
Natalie Desjardins netted a hat trick for Al’s while Erin Tomalty and Sara Kellar each scored twice.
Hailey Beaudry added a single.
Kellar and Beaudry shared keeper duties.
Myla Angus bulged the twine twice for the Vous while Maggie Jean also tallied.
The other marker was an own-goal.
Jean, Alyssa Faragher, and Angel McCormack shared keeper duties in a losing cause.
