Madill named new Thunder assistant coach

Greg Madill was named the newest member of the Borderland Thunder coaching staff yesterday.
Madill will join carryovers Sean Taggart and Neil Cooper behind the bench to assist head coach Dave Allison. The new-look staff met with Thunder officials last night.
“I’m excited. It’s a great opportunity for me to work with someone with the experience Dave has,” said Madill, 44, this morning.
He added he won’t return full-time to the Muskie girls’ hockey team but will be available in an advisory capacity.
Former head coach Wayne Strachan had been offered the assistant coaching position upon Allison’s signing on June 10, but did not come to a decision whether to stay or go elsewhere.
Madill, a Fort Frances native, is a former player with the Muskies, U.S. college (with St. Scholastica in Duluth), and senior hockey in Germany. His coaching experience includes an instructor at the ‘AA’ hockey camp, Muskie girls and Tom Thumb’s Skates and Blades team.
In related news, the Thunder’s season ticket drive officially began during the weekend’s bass tournament, where they sold 55 passes.
Season tickets, which include 28 home games, cost $150 and are on sale at Skates & Blades.
