Lyons sets three provincial records during swim meet

Swim, conquer, repeat.

That was the mantra for Kelly Lyons at the Alderwood Teddy Bares Masters Swim Club’s 45th-annual swim meet held in Toronto back on Jan. 19.

The 57-year-old, who is originally from Fort Frances but now resides in Toronto, was outstanding in setting three provincial records at the meet while representing the North York Gators swimming club.

Competing in the women’s age 55-59 division, Lyons nailed down top spot in the 100m free with a provincial record time of 1:07.43.

She also swam to provincial records in claiming top spot in both the 200m free (2:27.46) and the 500m free (6:33.63).

Those totals were better than the records she had previously set back in 2018 in each of the 100m free (1:08.37), 200m free (2:29.26), and 500m free (6:34.82).
