Low scores, no luck for Green’s

The Predators got caught in a defensive trap.
Timely goals were not the order of the day for the Fort Frances Green’s Countrywide Predators Atom ‘A’ hockey team at last weekend’s Nor-West invitational tourney in Thunder Bay.
But an 0-3-1 record didn’t tell the full story as all three losses came by just one goal.
The Neebing Bruins #3 squad were the first to disappoint Green’s, skating away with a 2-1 decision.
Brad McDonald’s unassisted marker in the second period was the lone tally for the Predators.
Then in an ending fit for Hollywood, Chris Bobczynski scored his second of the game with 45 seconds left in regulation time to give Green’s a 2-2 tie with the Neebing Mighty Ducks in their next outing.
But it was back to Heartbreak Street in the Predators’ third game as Wade Perusse’s unassisted second-period goal wasn’t enough to keep Green’s from falling by a 2-1 margin to Elks Power Skating (Thunder Bay).
And the offensive struggles continued for the Predators in their tournament finale as a late first-period goal stood up for the Current River Comets (Thunder Bay) in a 1-0 victory.
