Locals compete at inline marathon

Press Release

This past Saturday (Sept. 11) featured the 15th anniversary of the Northshore Inline Marathon in Duluth.
Just over 3,000 skaters took part in the combined full and half-marathon, with the route tracing the Grandma’s Marathon route.
Wet, windy conditions cut time by five minutes for the pros and 10-15 minutes for the amateurs.
The pro division featured an exciting photo finish by one-10th of a second.
Four local skaters participated in the open 42-km full marathon, skating in their respective age division groups.
Ashley Gibbs led the local contingent with a time of 1:53, followed by Bob Tkachuk (2:12) and Lavanna Fox and Armand Jourdain Sr. (2:43).
Next year’s race will be held Sept. 17, and a half-marathon run may be added to the slate of events.
