Local swimmers shine

Two local swimmers have placed at the recent Eynon Divisional Championship held in Sudbury from Nov. 17-18.
Karli McKinnon placed fifth in the women’s 50m freestyle, ninth in the 100m freestyle, eighth in the 200m freestyle, and sixth in the 50m butterfly.
McKinnon also excelled with her Carleton Ravens’ relay team, placing fourth in women’s 200s freestyle and fourth in women’s 400m freestyle.
Also attending was Alex Parent, who placed 18th in the men’s 50m freestyle, 11th in the men’s 50m backstroke, 12th in the men’s 100m backstroke, and 11th in the men’s 200m IM.
Parent also competed with his McMaster University swim relay team but did not place.
The championship meet, hosted by Laurentian University, is one of the first major stops on the Ontario University Athletics swimming season.
