Local runners bring home eight medals

Fifteen district runners braved cloudy, misty conditions Saturday in Baudette to compete in the annual Willy Walleye 5K Road Race.
Andrew Friesen (under-19) was the overall winner with a time of 18:24.
Araceli Vazquez captured first in the 40-49 age category with a time of 23:33 while Bill Michl was victorious in the men’s 50-59 grouping, crossing the line in 21:07.
Taking second place in their respective age divisions were Bob Tkachuk (27:54), Cindy McKinnon (28:04), and Wes Friesen (29:25).
Jeff Tilbury (24:10) and Megan Ross (26:03) each came third in their respective division.
Other local runners who competed Saturday included Dirk Friesen (23:57), Ian Friesen (25:24), Heidi Friesen (25:27), Shannon Jackson (27:00), Cameron Gobeil (27:10), Angela Petsnick (27:36), and Mary-Beth Tkachuk (36:00).
