The Northwestern men’s curling playdowns wrapped yesterday with no local rink advancing to the Kia Cup (provincials) coming up Feb. 6-11 in Nipigon.
Lorne Jackson and Anthony Smaha both were eliminated from further contention on Friday—the second day of competition.
Jackson finished with a 1-3 record, getting knocked out with an 8-4 loss to Terrace Bay.
Smaha also had a 1-3 record. After losing their first two draws on Thursday, they won 4-2 in their opening match Friday against Red Rock but then were eliminated with a 9-4 loss to Red Lake later that day.
Three Port Arthur rinks—Scharf, Salo, and Burgess—will represent Northwestern Ontario at the provincials.
